Jeffrey Brucker
born June 21, 1948
home Tucson, Arizona
Jeff has more than a decade of hiking and guiding experience in the
desert Southwest, Wyoming, and Utah. In addition to guiding for Sky Island
Treks, he also guides for the Southern Arizona Hiking Club and Outdoor
Adventures for a total of more than 70 days a year.
Jeff was the 1997-98 President of the Southern Arizona Hiking Club.
He is an accomplished orienteering expert, and instructs individuals and
groups, such as the Southern Arizona Rescue Association, of which he is
also a member, in land navigation and orienteering. Jeff assists
as a volunteer with numerous search and rescue efforts each year.
On a guides trip into Nankoweap in February, 1998 Jeff suggested that
each guide share an experience when he had "gotten in over his head". This
was an instructive exercise which allowed each of us on the trek to review
a past wilderness situation during which events did not go as planned,
and assess how we responded to the crisis. I believe that all on the trip
learned about their own strengths as well as learning from others
how to better handle unusual situations. Jeff is a detail person
whose meticulous preparation allows a trek to seem effortless.
Here’s what our clients have said about Jeff:
"Jeff is a fantastic guide. He knew the area well and gave us
some history of the Canyon. He truly made our trip personal and memorable."

"He took very good care of us and led us on some excellent adventures
that challenged us and definitely brought out the best in us. … Jeff led
me to accomplish things that I never even dreamed of doing."
